Christmas Tree Fun with IBS

Good Morning Stamping Friends!!

I am on the Inspired By Stamping Blog today, featuring a fun alteration of a stamp I like from them!!

There is a fun "swash" in the Friends Forever stamp set, that I thought would be cool to use to create a Christmas tree!!

So first, here is my finished card:

Isn't the tree fun?

Here's how I did it....
I started by collecting my supplies:

 Inks (Brown, Gold/Yellow, Green, Red)

Stamps

Paper

Rhinestones

You'll especially need the Friends Forever stamp set, as I mentioned above!!   The possibilities are endless with this accent "swash" piece!  I seen a Christmas tree with it!!

 Above is a picture of just the "swash" inked up!

I know you may be thinking I'm crazy, but keep scrolling!!

I start by inking just one end slightly, as seen below, with brown ink.  Which will become our tree trunk.

As seen below.... 

 Super fun, don't you think?  And we've just begun!!

So when beginning with the tree, I don't ink up the entire stamp.  When I begin with the bottom, I do half, as seen pictured below...

Above is for the left obviously, and then below is for the right...

As you get closer to the top of the tree, you will be inking a lot less of each side.

Here is the first layer stamped:

I took this picture quickly, so you can still slightly see where the stamped "swashes" over lapped.

 You can see the tree really starting to form at this point!  So exciting!!

 

Now on the 3rd layer I was able to stamp the entire image.

But now as you go further up you will need to ink even less on each side.

 

Keep stamping until you are happy with the top.

Now it is time to embellish and finish!!!

Isn't it beautiful?!  I really like how it turned out!

The sentiment is part of the Holiday Tags stamp set and the cute star at the top is part of the Build A Stocking stamp set!!

Alternative to Watercolors

Good Morning Stamping Friends!!

I am on the Inspired By Stamping Blog today, featuring a twist to use something other than watercolors!

So recently I was just "thinking" (yes, I know, sometimes bad!) while the kids were doing some painting on canvas's!  They have a ton of acrylic paints that they have gotten at Hobby Lobby that they absolutely love using.  

I thought, it would be cool if I could think of a way to use them on a card sometime.  So I decided to give it a try!

So I collected, in my case, two different acrylic paints I wanted to use, a paint brush, plate, stamps and water!

Acrylic paint can be very think and bright, so I used the water to thin it down to get more of a watercolor effect.  

Shown in the picture above are the acrylic paints I used on the left and right and in the center is one of them watered down.  

You do have to play with the paint and water a little to find a consistency you like.

Here are a few examples:

I decided I liked that black stamped and embossed image best.

So I created this fun and simple Sympathy card:

The elegant "With Sympathy" sentiment is part of the All Year Wishes II stamp set!

Sympathy cards are no fun to create.  But I do like how this one turned out.  Nice and simple.

The beautiful floral image I used is part of the Friends Forever stamp set!

So if you don't have watercolors around the house to watercolor with, try out some acrylic paints!!

Oh Christmas Tree with IBS

Happy Sunday Stamping Friends!!

I have a Christmas card to share with you today using some Inspired By Stamping products!!

Ever since I got the Friends Forever set I have been wanting to created a Christmas tree with the "swash" in the set!  Finally I was able to find some time to do so!!

And I LOVE how it turned out:

Simple, yet so beautiful!

Took me awhile to get the tree just right!!

The star on the top is from the Build a Stocking set!!

The cute little holiday sentiment is from the Holiday Tags set.

In the new year I will share how I created this pretty tree!!
