CI Paints: Inspired By....Textures

Another fun challenge at Creative Inspiration Paints this week:

Inspired By: Textures

Here's my card I made for the challenge:

I love the Create A Critter cart and wanted to make some Valentine's card with it.  So I thought I'd make a card for the challenge using this cart.

First off...look at all the SHIMMER!!  I just love these paints!!  For texture, I used some of my cuttlebug embossing folders.  I used "Tiny Bubbles" for the wings and "Candy Stripes" for the yellow stripe on his body.

I used CI Paints "Ivory" to cover his wings, "Coal" for his body and "Fairy Dust" to fill in a few of his stripes.

It is kind of hard to tell, but I used chalks to add some "blush" to its cheeks.

I used a polka dot background, but then did a little embossing by hand, the old way - before I had a cuttlebug.

I used my embossing style to randomly add a few circles on the sheet of paper.  I used the "Tiny Bubbles" folder.  I then used a paint brush to cover these circles with "Fairy Dust" CI Paint so they would stand out more.

I also embossed a little heart next to the sentiment with a brass plate I had of different shapes.  I then covered the heart with "Tutu Pink".

D2D Something Old, Something New

I have another card today using "Cupcake and Roses" from Designed 2 Delight.  I just love thie digital image!

Today is the 2nd challenge at D2D DT's Card Ideas Blog. 

The challenge this week is:

Something Old, Something New

You can use any Designed 2 Delight image you wish!  As long as you use something old and something new!  Faith at Designed 2 Delight is currently giving away the "Love Ewe" digi.  We'd love to see what you create!  You have a chance at winning some more D2D digi's!!

Here's my card:

I used CI Paint "Ivory" to add some shimmer to the frosting and "Fairy Dust" to add some shimmer to the roses.

Something Old: I've told myself I have to use what I have this year and try not buying as much!  Yes, I know, do ahead and laugh!  (Because deep down I am as well!!)  When it comes to paper, bling, flowers...I just have to have it!  But I am going to try my hardest not to be as tempted to buy "everything" and use up what I have first! So everything on the card is from my stash.

Love Ewe from D2D

Good morning!  It's the first Friday of the month!! Which means a FREEBIE at Designed 2 Delight!  Faith's images are so much fun to work with!

By grabbing this week's freebie and playing along, you'll recieve next week's image free as well.  It's such a fun progressive challenge!

This week's image is called "Love Ewe"

My little guy was helping me create this card, so it ended up being a very clean and simple card!  It was so cute, I mentioned I wanted to add some gems, so he "had" to go get them for me!  I was unable to even pick which ones I wanted to use, he wanted to pick them out, thankfully he picked red!  Trying talking a 2.5yr old out of something....not easy!!  So I'm glad he picked red.

While we were creating this card he insisted we sing "Mary had a little lamb!"  So we were having fun!!

Tutorial: Combining Digital Images

Combining Digital Images

I have had a few people ask me how to combine digital images and another asked if I’d like to do a tutorial. So I thought it would be fun.

I hope this helps:

1. Open the photo editing program of your choice. I use Photoshop.

2. Next open the digital image you would like to use. This works best if the are in .png format. If not, you’ll need to delete all the white areas so that you just see the black out line of the image. **NOTE: If you just delete the white area around the image and leave the white areas filled inside the image, you won't need to do the erasing of lines as I mention later on.  As you top image will be filled in with white and not show the outlines underneath.**

3. Before editing this digi, SAVE AS, creating a new file so you don’t lose the original.

4. Next you are going to want to make the area around this main image bigger. Go to Image – Canvas Size. In the width and height boxes add a few inches on each; at the end you can always crop the image.

5. With your main image minimized smaller, open the original image again. (Or another image you want to add – in this case I am using the same image)

6. Use the “Move Tool” to drag the original image onto the new one you are creating.

7. I want 3 cupcakes for this project, so I am going to repeat the last step, but first I want to rotate the image this time. Go to Image – Rotate Canvas – Flip Canvas Horizontal. Now use the Move Tool to drag the image into the new one you are creating.

8. Now using the Move Tool position the cupcakes where you would like them. (Notice by dragging these images together you have created layers, so you will need to switch between layers depending on which one you’d like to move)

9. Once you have them in place you are ready to delete the unwanted parts of the images outline. (I circled them with red to show you - sorry I deleted the left side before thinking of doing this). Layer 1 gets left along as this is your main one (in this case the middle cupcake).

10. Do the same for the right cupcake.

11. Yay! You have now created your combined image!!

12. Now you can use the Rectangle Marquee Tool to crop your image.

13. Go to Image – Crop.

14. Save your new combined image.

You are now ready to print it out and have fun coloring it in and creating a beautiful card!!!

In this case I used two different images.  I used Designed 2 Delight images "Kaela as a Fairy" and "Beary Big Gift".

2010 Favorite Card Picks

I've noticed many people do a post on their top card picks they have created for the year, and thought that was a really cool idea.  So I thouht I would do it as well!

Well, I must say one thing....This was hard!!!!!!!!  I had like 20 of them that I really liked, but managed to work myself closer to 10.  I'm going to be a little different and show 12, because I wasn't sure which two to take out.

CI Challenge: Inspired By....Circles

I was asked to be the Challenge Coordinator on the Creative Inspirations Paint Blog this term and am so excited!!  I just love using these paints!  I think I have come up with some fun challenges to find inspiration from.

I decided to make a circular card, as I have never really done this before and I have a ton of men in the family having birthdays, so I decided to also make a manly birthday card.  Which also explains the simplicity of the card.

I just love this "Beer Monster" digi!  It's by Pollycraft Designs, it was one of their freebie's this summer. 

I used CI Paints Fairy Dust, Sage, Emerald and Citrus to add some shimmer to this card.

I really like how this card turned out!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! 

We started our first day of the new year celebration with our little girl's 1st birthday!

I am so excited to say that I will continue designing for both Creative Inspiration Paints and Designed 2 Delight!  I love CI's shimmery paints!!  And love D2D's digi images!!  I am so lucky to be on both the DT's!  I actually consider myself spoiled! :)

On the D2D Card Idea's blog we have had some awesome cards posted by all the DT!  The inspiration is amazing!  I am so excited to mention that we have started our own challenges.  Debbie F. has some awesome challenges for everyone to join in on.  You have a chance at winning some D2D digi's!!

I was unable to make a card this week, but wanted to share the info for anyone who wants to join in:

This week is "Image from the Attic" challenge each month on the first Saturday. This week's challenge is to create any card/project using Primitive Snow Angel, Snow Angel, or Stitched Snowman.  If you don't already own one of this images, you can purchase them in the D2D shop.

And you can find some beautiful inspiration from the DT on the Card Idea's Blog.
