Thanks for visiting my blog to get the details on my crafty gift!
I have a ton of baby food jars, that I have always wanted to do something with other then always just recycling them to the dump. I've used so many of them to store brads and other little items that I didn't need them for that anymore and have always wanted to alter them. So this blog hop really motivated me to finally do something with them!
I created 3 different jars as of now:
Aren't they fun?
I priced out doing the jar in front, which was the simplest one.
I priced it out as to making 10 gifts, as most of the time you make more then one!
I used the "Christmas Tree" dollar delight digi to make this jar.
Look at all the shimmer on the top of the jar!! Not only do I LOVE using the D2D images, but I also LOVE adding CI Paints to them to add shimmer!!
Essentially in my case the project was even cheaper as I have a little one at home eating baby food yet, so in my opinion it didn't cost me anything for the jar, as she needs to eat! :) But if you don't have a little one at home, perhaps you know someone you can get jars from? Or you can get your hands on some other similar jars? Or if you want to actually purchase the baby food jars and just dump out the food.
Creating this jar:
1. Remove label.
2. Using Photoshop I opened the D2D Candy Cane Circle and the D2D Christmas Tree digi.
- I duplicated the Candy Cane Circle Layer
- Sized the Christmas Tree, to the size I wanted and the dragged the digi onto the Candy Cane Circle, creating another layer
- Place the Christmas Tree in between the two Candy Cane layers
- The top Candy Cane layer you'll need to use the magic wand to select the center and delete the white part, this will allow you to see the Christmas Tree under, yet cropping parts of the tree that are larger the the inside of the circle
- Type "Happy Holidays" to add in the circle
3. The top of the jar cover is 2". So size the image to that size or you can just cut out a circle that size (as I did on the Stitched Snowman Jar).
4. Color your image.
5. Cut image and the glue to the top cover.
6. Add ribbon around the top.
7. Add candy! (or any other little trinket)
Pretty simple!
I hope I didn't confuse you on the Photoshop steps, feel free to contact me if you need me to explain better. I tried my best!
Skating Penguin Jar:
I just love this last D2D freebie we received, I wanted to use him again! I just think this little penguin is so adorable!
Stitched Snowman Jar:
Isn't he cute?
I cut a snowflake from my "Graphically Speaking" Cricut cart to add to the top of this jar.
I used CI Paints to cover the snowflake to add shimmer and then added some gems!
The candy cane border around each of the images is from a new set Faith is releasing soon!
I love receiving comments, so please leave some love! :) There will be some random drawings, so leave some comments here and on the other DT members blogs!
Thanks for visiting my crafty creation! I hope I along with the DT members have inspired you to create some fun holiday gifts!
Hope you have a wonderful day!!
