Crazy for Animals

We visited the DeYoung Family Zoo last month, it was amazing! It's located in Upper Michigan (Wallace). If anyone lives around here, I strongly suggest going. It was so neat! We're going to make it a yearly trip for now on! I just love how hands on they are.

I was so excited to be able to hold "Louie" the baby chimp! It'll be neat watching him grow!

This is a digital LO I created for both Sawyer and Ava's album.

Have a great Sunday!

Beautiful LO

So as I mentioned the other day, I have been tossing around with idea of doing so digital LO's. I love working on my computer creating this, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Here's my first LO:

I still really enjoy actually playing with the paper and other materials, but thought it would be fun to do this as well. So I can maybe get caught up a little faster and hopefully stay on top of creating their books. I also I am thinking this will help at not making the books as thick.

So now hopefully tonight I will get the LO printed and officially see if I like the results!

Have a nice day! Kind of a icky day here, been raining all morning! So what better to do then SCRAP!! :)

CI Paints Challenge: Monochrome

This week’s CI Paints challenge is “Monochrome w/3D embellishments”.

I have a good friend getting married in a few weeks, so I thought it would be a great idea to make her wedding card.

With inspiration from their wedding invite:

I came up with this:

I think it turned out perfect! Simple, yet elegant!

I used both Beige and Ivory which are currently CI Paints Limited Edition colors which are being offered until the end of December! Get yours before they’re gone! I love both of them! Burgundy and Denium are the other two limited edition colors!

To make the background I used a cotton ball dabbed in the paint color of choice: Then just dabbed the sheet of paper until I liked how it looked. I really like this look.

Here are some close-up pics:Isn't the shimmer BEAUTIFUL?!?!

I used Chocolate and Caramel to cover the white Hero Arts flowers. I dipped my yellow brads in the cover of the Ivory paint to change them not only to match my prject, but to make them more fun by adding some shimmer!!I hope you have enjoyed my project, let me know what you think.

Check out the CI Paints Blog for some other great ideas!! Have a wonderful day!

Tuesday Color Spotlight: Tutu Pink

It’s Tuesday, so that means at the CI Paints blog it's another color spotlight! This week’s color I’ve chosen is one of my favorites…..Tutu Pink! It’s such a pretty pink!

I love how these cards turn out, they're pretty simple, yet I think very pretty. With summer coming to an end, I thought I'd make one last summery card!

I first stamped the butterfly stamp (SU Stamp Set "Priceless") in the ink color of choice then I lightly dipped my paint brush in the cover of the Tutu Pink paint and then lightly brushed it on the stamp.
Look at the beautiful shimmer in the burrtfly:
I just LOVE it!

I then used a toothpick dipped in the cover of the paint to add shimmer to the dots in the swirls.
Here is "Tutu Pink" on plain white cardstock!

Tutu Pink is a color in my opinion that you just HAVE to have! You can order your paints here.

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!

Happy Labor Day Everyone

Sorry for my lack of posting the past week, I needed to take some time away from everything for awhile and just sit back. I have been so busy with work, things around the house and the kids that it just caught up to me. I spent a lot of time this past week taking the kids places and being lazy playing with them.

Anywa I never really cared for the idea of digital scrapbooking, as I have always enjoyed making them by hand. But as I have two little ones and take way too many pictures, I am getting further and further behind! So I thought about doing a little of both. Scrapping some and digi others...So I've been playing around for a few hours today. I think it could work! Although, being I have a graphic design degree....I can be pretty picky, so I think digi scrapping will take me just as long!

Here's a quick LO I'm working on, testing if I'm going to like doing digi LO's. I figure this would also save a little on how thick the albums are going to be!

Have a great day!

Color Spotlight: Winter Frost

Another great color spotlight this week, sorry it's a little late, I've been having some horrible internet connections lately.

Anyway this week's color is WINTER FROST! I just love this paint!! With Christmas right around the corner, most of us are starting to think about those Christmas cards...well I think this paint is a must have!

Here's a quick card I made using Winter Frost:
Look at the shimmer!!

I also quickly made a tag this morning before I left for work, something I've been wanting to do the last few years, but never have! Maybe this will be the year! :)

Look at the beautiful shimmer you can add to your snowmen, a beautiful snow scene, ect!
Winter frost reminds me so much of those beautiful winter days when the sun is shining and reflecting on the snow! Don't you agree?!?!

Make sure to order your Winter Frost paint for your holiday cards! Also remember there are currently 4 special edition colors, get them before they're gone!

Have a fabulous evening!

Fishin' Around

Another adorable image from Faith at Designed 2 Delight! I love monkey's to begin with!

So first I'm going to share a current picture that was just taken a few week's ago at an amazing zoo we went to in Michigan with the kids and some friends. I was able to hold a baby chimp, his name was Louie! He was just TOO CUTE!

This week's image is called "fishin around". I wasn't able to put too much time into this card as I have a million things going on right now, but wanted to quickly get a card made for a friend's kid. I sent him a b-day card the other day and forgot to put his gift card in the card!

Close-up...

Isn't this image cute?!?!

In the inside of the card it says, "Fishing you a happy birthday!"

At the Double Delight Challenges this week we were to use ribbon, twine or string. They also had a nice sketch this week, which I somewhat went off of, but not completely.

Have a fabulous day!

Autumn Stroll

This week's Creative Inspiration's Paints Challenge is "Autumn Stroll...colors, sights, and thoughts of autumn". Going through my stash of fall stamps I found this stamp, which I thought would be fun to use as I never have used it before!

I kind of had a mental block as I was putting this card together, but am satisfied with how it turned out.

Look at the shimmer!!
I just love using the paints with my water brush. Your able to make areas dark, while making some areas lighter to give a nice look. Plus I just love the SHIMMER!!

Make sure to check the CI Blog out for the other design team creations!

Have a "shimmery" day!

Tuesday Color Spotlight: Blue Ice

Happy Tuesday everyone! This week I'm taking a look at CI Paints color Blue Ice.

And what a great way to show it off by making a masculine card! I usually have a tough time making cards for the guys as I don't own too many manly stamps. But am very pleased with the way this card turned out. It's a simple, yet a fun card I made using my Cricut.

I cut out "Happy Birthday" from Cricut cart "Beyond Birthdays".

The stars were cut from Cricut cart "George and the Basic Shapes" along with the squares and rectangle.
Both the sentiment and stars were then painted with CI Paints "Blue Ice" to add a clear irridescent with blue highlights to them. I just love the shimmer, it always just adds a nice final touch.

Here are two different close-up shots of "Blue Ice" on a blue piece of paper and on plain cardstock. I love the hint of blue shimmer!

Yet great paint from CI Paints that is a clear irridescent with a color highlight that leaves the paper, brad, ribbon, ect. the original color and just adds a special touch of shimmer, in this case a highlight of blue!

Have a great day!

Kendra

Scrap Queen

I met up with my friend's Michelle and Lisa (my scrap buddies) the other night for supper and to finish planning our Scrap Fest trip to The Mall of America! (I CAN'T WAIT!!) Less then a month now!

Anyway my friend Michelle bought us all this cute t-shirt to wear! I just love it!
As I mentioned last month I bought the new i-rock tool, which I just "HAD" to have! I use it so much!

Anyway this was the first time blinging up something other then a scrapbook page or card. I added some gems to the crown! How cool is that?!?! It was so easy!
