Ava Letters

I picked up these paper mache letters from Joann Fabrics.  I wanted to do something different in Ava's room then what I did in Sawyer's room.  I just had bought some white wooden letters for his room as I didn't want something too girly for him.  Well if now having a little girl, they story is different!!

I used scraps of different paper to cover each of the letters.

A = Pinks
V= Oranges
A= Purples

I really enjoyed making these and really like how they turned out.  I liked them without anything on them, but thought it would be fun to add some bling, shimmer, ribbon and  some flowers.

I used CI Paints to add shimmer to some of the pieces of paper.  (Unfortunately I don't believe this close-up shot really dose justice! Sorry!)

I used Tutu Pink, Fuchsia and Blush to add shimmer to the paper flowers which were white.
I then added some folded ribbon behind the flowers and bling to the centers!! Aren't they beautiful?

Have a wonderful day!

Candy Corn Boxes

I seen a cute tutorial on making witch hat candy boxes and then another lady take the idea and make them into candy corn treat boxes!

I thought they were adorable, so I had to do it myself!!
How cute are these?

The bats were cut from the new "Halloween" Designer Paper from K & Company.

I used a paint brush to add shimmer to a few of the embossed parts of the paper with Creative Inspiration Paints.  I used "Fairy Dust" (my fav!!) for the main bacground and for the tag (picture on the right) I used "Mango" and "Mellow Yellow" to color in the candy corn.

These cute boxes are so easy to make!

1. Cut white card stock to 4 1/4" x 11"

2. On both sides find the middle, 2 1/8".

3. Score at 5 1/2"

4. Score diagonally from the 2 1/8" mark to one side of sides where the 5 1/2" score mark came to. (Picture below) I used my paper trimmer to score as I found it made it easier.

5. Pre-fold.

6. Cut a piece of white cardstock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", find the middle of it again and this time  actually CUT to the bottom corner on both side from the 2 1/8" mark to get a triangle.

7. Then adhere strips of colored paper.

8. Trim the excess.

9. I then sent it throught my Cuttlebug.

The results:

10. Add CI Paints.  Or decorate it in any way you wish.

11. Punch a small whole through the top middle.

12. Weave ribbon through the holes.

13. Adhere the decorated candy corn piece of paper to the front.

14. Add a tag if you wish.

Pretty simple!

Have a wonderful day!

Beautiful Rose for Breast Cancer Awareness

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month Faith came up with these great digi's!  Two sets and a single digital image.
"Hope and Dream" Set

"Beautiful Blessing" - This is this week's  freebie at Designed 2 Delight!  The face and flowers are combined digi's from the new set and a beautiful Irish Blessing in the background.

"Beautiful Life" Set

Aren't they great?  I had a hard time choosing which one to use.

I decided to use the rose from the "Beautiful Life" set, as that is one of my favorite flowers!

I made this card for my dear grandma as she has faced breast cancer.  She just loved it! I've also known other people who have faced other cancers.  I just recieved a call last night from a friend that a great guy we had known (he actually was a pastor and married my husband and I) had passed away yesterday from his struggle with cancer.
If you missed out in the progressive challenge to get the freebie "Beautiful Blessing" or would like to purchase any of the new sets, you can get them in the Designed 2 Delight shop.

I also thought I'd post a picture of a vase of roses from my garden.  This will probably be the last ones I get to cut for the season.  Here's to all you lovely followers!  Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your sweet comments.
The lighter salmon/pink colored roses are very fragrant!

Have a wonderul day and great weekend!

The sentiment "Life is a Beautiful thing" is from a new digi set called "Beautiful Life" which will be released tomorrow!!!

I used the "Whimsical Flowers" from the set Willow Whimsy to make my own embellishments!
I used CI Paint "Amethyst" to give the flowers some beautiful shimmer!! And added a pearl in the center of each.

Halloween Layout

A quick Halloween Layout I made this afternoon while the kids were napping, it's not often I get Sawyer to take a nap, let alone both of them at the same time!  So I make sure to take advantage of the time!!

I used some of my Great Impressions Stamps from last months stamp of the month program.  Stamps aren't just for making cards!  I tend to overlook my stamps when making layouts, but am now trying to use them when possible.

Just need to add some photos now.  This layout will most likely go into Sawyer's album.

Have a wonderful evening!

Whimsical Flowers

If you played along last week you got the "Whimsical Flowers" digi stamp from Designed 2 Delight free.  If you missed it you can purchase it in the D2D shop here.  It is part of a new set Faith just came out with.

Here are a few cards I made with the freebie:

No sentiment for this one as I liked the layout without one and plus I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it yet.

A birthday card for my Grandma.

A quick thank-you card I made.  My girlfriend buys a lot of thank-you cards so I have been making some to give to hear as a gift for Christmas because she is always commenting on how much she loves my cards.

Can't wait to see what you create with the image!

While I was making these cards, my little guy was down in my room with me and kept saying, "Mommy's pretty flowers!"  He loves all my flowers I have outside so every time he sees flowers he says that. :)

Have a wonderful day!

Monster Treat Bucket

Time for some halloween fun!  In the last issue of Scrapbook Etc. they had some adorable treat buckets!  So I had to give the "frankenstein treat bucket" a try!

It turned out SO cute!

I made this along with my card from Saturday to show off on the CI Paints blog today!  We're on our third term and have a bunch of new faces and new things happening, so make sure to check it out!  Each day there will be something new...tutorial, inspiration and challenges on Sunday!

Isn't he cute?!?!

I used CI Paint "Winter Frost" for his eyes.

And "Onyx" for his hair.

Here's how to make your own:

1. Take a 12 x 12 inch sheet of green cardstock.
2. Score each side at 4" and 8" and fold.  (picture below)

3. Cut to the center fold were you scored at 4" and 8" on one side and then do the same on the opposite side of the sheet. (picture below)

4. Fold the box together and as you are use adhesive to hold it together.

 Box all adhered together!

5. You can either cut one piece of 12" x 1 1/2" or cut four pieces of 4" x 1 1/2" out of black paper for his hair.  I did 4 seperate pieces.

6. Cut little triangles out of the bottom of each pieve to make his hair.  I then used CI Paint "Onyx" to add shimmer to his hair.

(Now this is where I got really excited to get him together and forgot to take more pictures...sorry)

7. Using either punches or a die cutting machine cut white circles for his eyes.  I cut mine at 1 1/2" and another at 1 1/4".  I painted the white circles with CI Paint "Winter Frost" to add some glimmer to his eyes!

8. Cut the centers of his eyes on black cardstock, mine were cut at 1 1/4" and 1".

9. Cut a 1/2" circle out of green card stock and cut in have which was used for his eyelids.

10. Put the eyes together and adhere them to the box.

11. Add a button for his nose.

12. Either use a black crayon/marker to draw his half smile.  Or I cut out a 1 1/4" circle and cut out a smile from that piece.

13. Use rollos to add to the sides as his "bolts".

14. Lastly add candy! (and ohh and ahh at how cute it is!!)

I plan to make a bunch more for the kids friends and family for Halloween!  I was surprised that they hold a nice amount of candy in them!

Hope you enjoy this quick and easy treat box, I thought it was really cute when I saw it.

So go grab it and share your creation with us! :)  "Two Apples" is the current freebie - click here to go there.

This is my card I made with the freebie along with "Apple Harvest" which you can get in her shop.
